I have filled out an application form, what happens now?

Once a member of the housing team has received your application form the information provided will be used to match you/your family with prospective properties for your to view. Having viewed the available selection – or had someone view on your behalf – you will be offered a lease.

LUSU Housing do not charge a deposit or a reservation fee but require applicants to pay the first months rent when they return the lease. These monies are then deducted directly from the annual rent schedule. Payments can be made by cash, card, BAC’s or by sending a cheque payable to LUSU with the applicants full name on the reverse side of the cheque.

If I decide not to take up occupation will I get a refund?

NO. These monies will be held against the related rent schedule and the applicant/tenant will be required to pay the agreed contracted rent until such a time as a suitable replacement is secured for the property.

When can I move into Postgraduate campus accommodation?

You may move into your chose property anytime after the stated tenancy start date.

If I choose to live in shared accommodation will I have live to with both PG and UG students?

No. Our postgraduate houses are reserved only postgraduate students.

I’ve arrived from overseas and my family are with me and have no accommodation arrangements. What should I do?

LUSU Housing can provide a list of Bed & Breakfast/hotels and along with standard information about family housing available through the private sector, as well as any information we may have with regards suitable vacancies we may have available.

It’s also advisable to contact the University’s College and Residences Office to clarify whether there is any temporary campus accommodation available that may be of use in the short term while a property search is being undertaken.
